The Hingham Mothers’ Club was founded in 1940 with the mission to promote civic and community welfare and sociability. Today the Mothers’ Club continues that tradition by supporting families, students, and seniors in our community. In December 2011 we hosted our annual Festival of Trees and first ever Treeview party to raise funds for the organizations we support--thanks to all who helped make these events a tremendous success, we raised over $25,000. To learn more, attend one of our events and to keep up with our latest events and news, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
Our First Annual Butterfly Effect Award
Change one thing, change everything.
The term "butterfly effect" was coined in chaos theory to suggest that the wing movements of a butterfly might have significant repercussions on wind strength and movements throughout the weather systems of the world, and theoretically, could cause tornadoes halfway around the world.
To nominate a Hingham mother who is making a positive impact through community service for The Hingham Mothers' Club first annual Butterfly Effect Award, please fill out the form below and include any appropriate attachments where indicated. Nominations must be received by April 15, 2012. The winner will be selected and announced by June 1, 2012. The HMC will present the Butterfly Effect Award winner with her very own butterfly wings and an Apple iPad to help her continue her fabulous work. See nomination form for full details.

Back Pack Collection Project to benefit The Kerry Jon Walker Fund
Event Chair Rebecca Baker
Backpacks due by May 15th
In the village of Gaoual, in Guinea, West Africa, the government will pay for a child to go to school if the child can provide his/her own supplies. The problem is that most children are from poverty stricken families who cannot afford school supplies. As a result, most children do not learn to read or write. The Kerry Jon Walker fund is collecting backpacks full of supplies to ship to these children. It is a concrete project – all backpacks collected will be put on a boat and shipped to Guinea. The children will receive them and go to school. If you provide one backpack, you are sending a child to school. The Hingham Mothers’ Club will be contributing to this cause, and we ask the public to do the same. If you choose to donate, backpacks should contain pencils and a pencil sharpener, crayons, markers, lined and colored paper, chalk and erasers. An additional $15 contribution will purchase a uniform for the student. To donate a backpack, please contact Mickey Walker at .
