Hingham Mothers' Club Supports Hingham Education Foundation (HEF) SMART Board program

In early 2008, the Hingham Mothers' Club board voted to donated $3500 to purchase a SMART Board for the Hingham High School.  This donation was a result of a successful fundraising year that included "Barns of Hingham" and the "Festival of Trees".

We recently received notification from HEF that the SMART Board is up and running in Dana Crosby's Science Classroom at Hingham High School.  Here is a portion of the letter we received from HEF:

The early response from students and teachers has been fantastic!  Teachers have told us that the SMART Boards have changed the way they teach.  The students get more involved in what they are learning, and class lessons are more interactive and fun.  One Hingham Middle School math teacher said kids who would never come up to the front of class are begging to do a math problem.  A science teacher at Hingham High said the interaction with the material presented on the SMART Board makes students feel as though they are part of the lesson, instead of simply observing it.  We think this teacher sums it all up, "They want to pay attention becuase they think the SMART Board is fun, and if you have kids paying attention, you have them learning".

We are proud to be one of many organizations, businesses, and families in Hingham who are participating in this effort.
